Rain!

Well here comes the rain!
The usual madness on the roads, it never ceases to amaze me how crazy everyone gets because it is raining. Just slow down!!!
The house did not fair as well this time around, our bedroom upstairs flooded ! The water was running down all the walls....major issue with the roof! The windows leaked as usual, but then towels generally held back the flow.
The power went out downstairs, so we just had to wait, until whatever it was that was tripping it, to dry out.....took about 5 hours.
No more rain in the near future......walls in bedroom almost dried out, towels are all washed and dry, ready for the next deluge.

Road works

Will be so glad when they finish the road works in our area. They have been working on it since June, and I am so over the guys who do not know the difference between a red and green flag, not to mention those that do not think any directions apply to them! I cannot count the number of times I have been given the green flag ( go, in my book) just to get confronted with someone half way down, who has ignored the red flag ( stop) and is blocking the road. Or you get the guys that really do not know what either flag means, and just stands there waiving both around at the same time! WT???

New Phone

Went and got an early Christmas present...iPhone 5S. Considering my phone is an iPhone 3, I thought it was time to upgrade. Finally found one for a decent price, and went to get a new SIM card to fit, however, because the number is in my husband's name, Nawras would not give me one without him being there to sign for it. Two day's later, he is able to go to the shop with me and yes, they will give me the new sim, but they are not able to activate it until tomorrow! They are having problems after all the rain. So, I have had a nice new phone for five days now, and still cannot use it! By the way, my husband did not sign anything while were there! Nothing is ever easy........

Rain Forecast

The weather forecast for the next few days is for strong winds and rain.
Nothing too unusual in that, considering the time of year. And just as usual is the panic that prevails.
The rains will come, the winds will blow, the wadis will flood, but it is not the end of the world. Sensible precautions should be taken, the main one being, stay away from the wadis! They are unpredictable and dangerous in flood. Why anyone would get that close to watch the flood, that it put their life at risk, is beyond me.

Mocha Cafe - Grand Hyatt Muscat

We finally used the voucher we won.....a buffet meal for two at the Mocha Cafe, Grand Hyatt.
Well what can I say, the buffet was the usual, nothing exceptional, everything rather ordinary.
The food that was there at the start, looked very overdone, and the food that came out to replenish the stock, was underdone.
The cost of a bottle of wine is nothing short of extortion, 34 OMR for an average bottle that you would pay maybe 7 OMR for at the bottle shop.
But hey, it was a night out, and I didn't have to cook! And it was a reminder as to why we don't go there very often at all.

Bike and Breakfast - La Brasserie, Muttrah

Another Friday morning, and the weather is lovely, not too hot with a light breeze.
My Husband and friends, are taking their motorbikes out for a ride, and I am meeting them for Breakfast.
Today we are trying the French restaurant in Muttrah, " La Brasserie"
They have recently renovated the top level, which used to be open, however this was not really practical here, as it is either too hot, or wet. It is now enclosed, and the Omani decor looks good. The view is now very limited , due to the construction of the new Fish Market being built on the other side of the road. However watching the usual mayhem on the road, is always very entertaining.
Breakfast menu provided a variety of choice. The girls decided on Pancakes, which were really nice. More like a crepe, very light. One of the guy's had the American breakfast, which consisted of scrambled eggs, bacon, mushrooms, toast, juice and coffee. The other had an omelette, with toast.
Everyone enjoyed their meal, and the coffee was not bad either.
This would have to be one of the better breakfast meals we have had here.

Review:
Decor: Comfortable
Food: French ( 3 out of 5)
Service: Good, but slow ( we were on the 2nd floor, everything had to be carried up)
Value: Moderately priced
Cost: 35 OMR for 4  people.
